CHRISTUS Health names medical director for cancer center in Longview

3/09/2026

CHRISTUS Health is proud to announce the appointment of Steven J. DiBiase, M.D., as medical director of the CHRISTUS Cancer Center in Longview and leader of the health system’s expanding oncology program.

DiBiase will officially begin his role today and will help guide the development of the Cancer Center ahead of its Fall 2026 opening. He will see patients at the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Northpark oncology clinic, 323 E. Hawkins Pkwy., STE A-1, until the cancer center is completed.

“We are not just opening a building; we are opening a technological powerhouse,” he said. “But beyond technology, my vision is to build a 360-degree model of coordinated care. I want every patient to leave our center with three things they cannot find anywhere else in the region: that they feel cared about, they have a plan and that we will provide hope.”

DiBiase will also serve as chief of radiology oncology and is a highly respected, board-certified radiation oncologist known for delivering advanced, patient-centered cancer treatment. He comes to East Texas from Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, where he served as a senior academic and clinical leader.

He also served as the chair and chief of service for the Julia and Ned Arnold Center for Radiation Oncology at New York-Presbyterian Queens and as a member of the hospital's executive committee.

“I chose to bring that experience here because I believe your survival rate should never be determined by where you live,” he said.

With more than two decades of experience, DiBiase has treated a wide range of cancers and is particularly recognized for expertise in advanced radiation therapies for prostate, brain and lung cancers. His approach emphasizes precision, compassion, and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.

In addition to his clinical leadership, DiBiase has contributed to cancer research with more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and presentations. He has also served as a principal investigator on nationally recognized clinical studies and as a reviewer for cancer center accreditation initiatives.

“Bringing Dr. DiBiase to our community represents a major step forward in local cancer care,” said Reid Dollahite, vice president for physician practice operations. “Patients will benefit from his experience and his commitment to treating the whole person.”

DiBiase earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed his radiation oncology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He is board-certified by the American Board of Radiation Oncology.

“We are closing the care gap on cancer care,” he said. “We are ensuring that 'world-class' is no longer a destination two hours away; it is a reality right here in our own backyard.”
